IMF MOOCs

The IMF has partnered with edX, the nonprofit online learning initiative founded by Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, to offer online training. With this partnership, and with generous financial support from the Government of Japan, the Fund is able to expand the reach of its training program to member country officials and to offer access to its training courses to a wider public audience through massive open online courses (MOOCs).

Reach of Online Learning

Since the launch of the program in late 2013, online courses have attracted more than 60,000 active participants. Of those, around 20,000 government officials and 13,400 members of the general public from 191 countries have successfully completed an online course. By this measure, the program is achieving its dual goals of sharing knowledge with the general public and significantly scaling up the volume of training to member country officials.
