Giovanni Ganelli
Last Updated: November 12, 2015Giovanni Ganelli, an Italian national, is the Deputy Head of Office in the IMF's Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (OAP) in Tokyo. Giovanni has worked for the Fund since 2003. Before joining OAP, he also worked in the IMF Institute and in the European and Fiscal Affairs Departments at the Fund Headquarters in Washington DC. He is currently a member of the IMF Japan Article IV team and, during his IMF career, Giovanni has participated in program, surveillance, and capacity building missions to various countries, including Albania, Austria, China, Czech Republic, Georgia, India, Mauritius, Moldova, Singapore and Slovenia. Giovanni has a PhD in Economics from the University of Warwick and an undergraduate degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Rome "La Sapienza". His research has been published in various academic journals (including the Journal of International Economics, Macroeconomic Dynamics and the Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control) and focuses on the effects of fiscal policy in New Keynesian models and, more recently, on structural reforms in Japan.
